people need the Lord

on this Good Friday, i think it's so appropriate as we hear this song. a msg from a friend last night reminded me that there are so many aimless people in this world. as we look at their faces, what do we see? behind those smiling faces, what is going on in their hearts? what is going on in OUR hearts?

on this day, almost 2000 years ago, a man who was blameless and sinless, bore the torture of capital punishment. 39 whips He suffered. the scorning, spitting and insults of His own people He endured. a cross larger than Himself, made of wood from a single tree, He carried. the ultimate pain in His heart He felt. why did He do all this? He did not deserve such a cruel ending to His 33 years on this earth. people found no wrong in Him, yet His actions which was to direct people to the Truth offended some people. and because of this, they nailed Him to the cross. they drove a large metal nail through each of His wrists. they pushed a crown of thorns onto His head. they pierced His feet together with a single nail. and they left Him hanging on the cross.

yet as He was suffering, with His lungs gasping for air which He hardly took in, He prayed on behalf of the people who crucified Him, saying, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing." (Luke 23:34) what great love this is!

which one of us, in times of suffering and pain, can refrain from blaming the ones who caused us hurt? even when we are in position to administer revenge, we can hold back our bitterness and anguish, and forgive those who torment us?

Jesus did that. so that we can have hope today. why is this day so different? because today we are no longer slaves to sin, and we can have freedom from bondage. for those of you who are still doubtful of what i am saying, what do you think you are in this world for? just to wander aimlessly, suffering hurts from the people we love and trust, enduring pain from our limitless wants and needs? i'm sure we are here for a purpose. if not, then i'd rather not come to this earth at all.

i will be glad if anyone who wants to know more about my faith just ring me up and pop the question.

here's the song playing in my private lounge...

People need the Lord
Everyday they pass me by,
I can see it in their eye.
Empty people filled with care,
Headed who knows where?

On they go through private pain,
Living fear to fear.
Laughter hides their silent cries,
Only Jesus hears.

People need the Lord, people need the Lord.
At the end of broken dreams, He's the open door.
People need the Lord, people need the Lord.
When will we realize -- people need the Lord?

We are called to take His light
To a world where wrong seems right.
What would be too great a cost
For sharing life with one who's lost?

Through His love our hearts can feel
All the grief they bear.
They must hear the words of life
Only we can share.

People need the Lord, people need the Lord
At the end of broken dreams, He's the open door.
People need the Lord, people need the Lord.
When will we realize that we must give our lives,
For people need the Lord.
People need the Lord.
