of honour and valour...
watched troy with jon today at tampines mall. he has always wanted to catch this show but it seems like we never found time to watch it. or even if we had intention to watch it, we would miss the show time somehow. so today, we made it a point to hurry to tampines mall within 45 minutes and caught the show.
i have always been a little sucker for knights and stuff. kindda struck a chord with king arthur and his knights of the round table. i used to find them very valiant and their "all for one, and one for all" sword clanging action seemed to impress me a lot then. but i never had the same positive sway towards mel gibson's war epics like braveheart and the patroit. however, add brat pitt to any movie, and the favourable meter jumps a few notches up. *swoon*
with a pretty enticing storyline and a few witty humourous jabs injected in the movie, i must say it is a must-watch. it actually keeps you guessing what is going to happen next. except for the part on the trojan horse, which most of us would have already learnt in school what resulted from the Trojan's stupidity. besides brat pitt, another character everyone must look out for is eric bana, who plays hector (heir to the Trojan throne and brother of orlando bloom). you may have never heard of him (he is the anchor voice of finding nemo), but he played such a courageous character. he fought for his country, and embodied loyalty, bravery and strength.
but then with brat pitt, who really cares about the storyline? *hee* step aside orlando bloom. you are no match for the legendary brat pitt. it seems like orlando bloom is only good at shooting arrows. he stole the limelight when he suddenly became one of Troy's valued archers and killed Achilles by shooting an arrow at his heel/tendon. hmm... he had better stay an elf. at least he looked better.
one observation i took away from the movie: no matter how much dirt and blood a warrior goes through in war, as long as you are the best warrior (being rumoured to be an immortal would be a plus!), you will always have clean shaven face and shiny muscles. although everyone else around you (including the king) have unkempt burly beards and dirty skin. it's almost amazing. and i have not mentioned about the nice wavy locks, despite being in a helmet for half a day.
one conclusion i took away from the movie: when you have done something wrong, don't continue doing wrong. it will cause you (and sometimes others) to fall into a deep trap and like a spider's web, you may not be able to find your way out of trouble. like paris (orlando bloom) and helen (queen of sparta who left her husband and eloped with paris back to troy). just because of one woman, it sparked the war between the alliance of greek cities against troy. eventually, it led to so many sacrificed lives and the downfall of troy. just because of one silly woman's mistake... *shakes head*
