of sleepless nights and high spirits

photos updated on 9 july @ 0131hrs. finally found time to throw a couple of photos together. courtesy of denice. more photos can be found here...

after my emotional rambling on building castles in the air on saturday night, i tossed around in bed for almost another hour before i actually went into dreamland. thankfully, i didn't have to wake up early for church. service was at 5pm.

so i woke up a little dizzy-headed, but nevertheless, excited for the day. God has seen our church through 6 weeks of searching and discovering our life purposes. 43 days exactly! we have definitely been experiencing miracles and blessings from God throughout this period. i, for one, have been a witness of His wondrous works in many lives around me, and i am greatly encouraged to continue to live for His purposes in my life. i know my life, my experiences and my past is part of His plan for my present and my future. not for my benefit, but i have been blessed to be a blessing. many times, we tend to think to ourselves why certain events happen to us. why did God allow such painful things to hurt us. but it is only when you see people who have been through worse experiences that you start to realise that you are much better off.

service at 5pm didn't mean that i get to slack around till the evening. was out of the house with bro, cy and theo by 11.30 because we had to be at the funfair discussion at 12.30. before we cabbed down to church, we stopped by elias mall to grab lunch at macs and 10 swordtail fishies to test out the fishing stall. (never did i imagine catching fishies with a plastic spoons proved to be quite a toughie!)

set my feet in church and almost immediately, i went into a frenzy of getting things ready to be brought over to TPBC for the celebration service that evening. the post of event manager was quite a challenger as the campaign comes to a close. i thought that celebration service should be more of a breeze, but in our bid to make it more memorable and fun for everyone, there were greater expectations of myself to ensure that everything runs smoothly. but glory to God that He has curbed the perfectionist in me. i have truly learnt that perfectionism is an impossible point to achieve in life. despite the hiccups that happened for the celebration, to me, it is still a blast and i can still give thanks to God! people were enjoying themselves (evident from all the blog entries i have been reading)... they felt blessed by the message, testimonies and special items... they were chatting and fellowshiping happily with one another over good food (there was no rice and dessert left at the end of the night!)... kids were having fun at the playground and they can remember their memory verses (applause to all the sunday school teachers)...

what was most important? people were ushered into the kingdom of God that evening! a hug to esther, justin and karen! welcome to the family of God! the Lord truly answers prayers. we have been praying for esther and justin's salvation. jon and i could see that they were really seekers of what life is all about. i was so glad to see them participating in the dance item, willing to attend youth service and having fun at practices. i knew the Lord would have mercy on them and touch their hearts one day! what i heard about that night is that kenny and his cell group have also been praying for karen's salvation. many praises to the Lord!

just to remind everyone of our 5 life purposes...

after the service and the crazy cleaning up (esp with two hilarious vacuum cleaner operators vic and theo), i managed to grab the last bit of dessert and a drink. i was hungry, yet too happy to eat. to see how our church has grown over the past 6 weeks was a reward in itself. trooped over to the chng's residence after that for a euro 2000 night with a whole bunch of people... let me see if i can recall who were there that night. joo ching, jocelyn, vic, josh, boy, cy, theo, jon, joy, alaric, denice, mel, jerry, paul, chris, shan and hao. i think i did not miss anyone out. it was a night of screaming, shouting, excitement, carom, soccer, heart attack, name game, leftovers, ice cream and one and a half hours of sleep at 8am in the morning!

woke up to the boys trying to play pranks on the others... drawing on people with permanent ink, powder and my nail polish! groggy-headed with freezing toes, i zombied around the house for a while before we headed to the nearby kopitiam for brekkie. brought prata back to a sleeping jon and we lazed around watching nickoldeon and guys playing more carom. without lunch (i think we all forgot about it), we headed off to marina square for spiderman 2.

i'm not a real fan of spiderman. would not have cried if i didn't get to watch it. but it was in true style an action-packed show. the scenes were running fast. not good for someone who slept real little the night before. i fell asleep for about 5 minutes during a boring conversation between spidey and his aunt. denice fell asleep next to me too and bounced her head, which made it real obvious that she dozed off. both of us had our faces covered at the scary scenes, so don't ask us what happened at the hospital scene and fighting scenes. finished more than half a box of popcorn by myself again. i think i better not watch too many movies. i always end up eating a lot of popcorn. we headed back to our own homes after the show and spent the night in a daze before knocking off to grab lost sleep.

snapshots taken over the weekend will be uploaded really soon.... i was too busy on sunday to snap anything. but i know denice has a lot. so will do up a photo collage when she has uploaded them.
